Continuing Professional Development(CPD)


The mandate of the institution is to regulate the education, training and practice of nurses and midwives to ensure safe nursing and midwifery care to the public. This is achieved by making sure only nurses and midwives that are suitably qualified to practise in a competent and ethical manner are registered.

Continuing Professional Development(CPD) is the means by which members of the profession maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge, expertise and competence, and develop the personal and professional qualities required throughout their professional lives.


Nature and Extent of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

  1. A nurse or midwife shall be required to undertake continuing professional development
  2. A nurse or midwife shall be required to attain atleast twenty (20) points.
